NEED YOUR HELP!!!
JUST IMAGINE:
IMAGINE not being able to prepare yourself a hot meal, change the batteries in your smoke detector, or bathe safely. Imagine not being able to do the basic day to day activities needed to maintain your independence.
IMAGINE being in a wheelchair and not having a ramp for entrance and exit into your home, needing medication but not having the funds to make the purchase or going without heat because you have no money to pay your gas bill.
IMAGINE being alone day in and day out with nobody checking on your, sometimes going days without human interaction.
SADLY THIS IS FAR TOO COMMON IN CHEROKEE COUNTY
FOR MANY OF OUR SENIOR CITIZENS
Now…IMAGINE how you can help!
The Volunteer Aging Council (VAC) is hosting the 6th annual fundraising gala on March 4th at the historic rock barn in Canton. The VAC is in need of items to be auctioned. We are also selling advertisements in our program (at deeply discounted rates) which will be distributed the night of the auction, AND selling tickets to the event,
($40 per person/$75 per couple, heavy hors de-oeuvres, cocktails,
entertainment by Toni Akers and auction included).
If you would like to help us with this worthy fundraiser please contact
Dianne Voss (Senior Services) 770-345-7515.
The VAC is strongly supported and endorsed
by Cherokee County and the Board of Commissioners!
The Volunteer Aging Council has programs in place to assist seniors
in Cherokee County when all other means have been exhausted.
Programs supported by the VAC are:
Last Stop Emergency Fund – assists with utilities, prescription, and food cost etc…
Chores Program – minor home repairs and routine maintenance
Food Closet – provides shelf staples to seniors who are without ample food supply
Fan Drive – each spring box fans are delivered to seniors who do not have
or cannot afford to use air conditioners.
Alzheimer Program - home improvements designed to help make life easier for not only the Alzheimer patient but their caregiver(s) as well. Installation of shower and grab bars,
grip tape and other items designed to make their day to day life safer.
Ramp Project - volunteers build ramps for handicapped seniors, providing them with safe entrance and exit from their homes and offering independence and dignity.
These are just a few of the programs we have in place to assist the frail and homebound seniors in Cherokee County. We also provide funds to the Meals-On-Wheels program.
One of our members will be contacting you shortly to answer any questions you may have. In the mean time, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions
or concerns regarding our organizations and its mission.
The VAC is a nonprofit organization and your donation is tax deductible.
