Everyday Edisons invites all inventors and innovators to attend the casting call and educational exposition to be held at The Gwinnett Center (6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth, Ga.). The casting call will be complimented by a full day of free seminars, including the opportunity to meet with experts from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
The show considers any category of invention, ranging from sketched ideas and simple concepts to detailed, patented designs and factory prototypes.
The Everyday Edisons panel of judges, including product development and patent law experts, provides a forum for participants to present and demonstrate original ideas. The judges will select 10 to 12 inventors to be featured in the show's third season, which documents the inventors as their concept is refined, produced, marketed and sold.
Major retailers, such as Bed Bath & Beyond, QVC, PetSmart, The Sharper Image, and buybuyBaby, will join the judging panel this year to review more advanced factory prototypes and finished products.
"Having a great idea and making money from a great idea are two distinct accomplishments," said Louis Foreman, executive producer and lead judge of Everyday Edisons. "If you can dream it, we can help make it come true."
The series invests thousands of dollars into each chosen invention, with no cost to the inventor. The name "Everyday Eidsons" honors Thomas Edison, the famed American Inventor who, with virtually no formal education, had more than 1,000 patents to his credit. The name implies that everyday people, like Edison, can have great ideas.
Everyday Edisons casting calls are free and open to the public. Registration forms, directions, maps, FAQ's and day-of details are available online at www.EverydayEdisons.com. Participants must complete and provide all registration forms in order to audition, and must attend one of the five nationwide casting calls to be considered for the show. Doors open to the public at 7 a.m. and registration closes at 1 p.m.
The first season of the show aired in the spring of 2007 and is currently in production of Season 2.
